Muscat, Feb 9 \u2013 The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) will be working with government agencies and travel companies to encourage visitors to Dubai Expo 2020 to spend a few days in the Sultanate. \u201cWe are working on a strategy so that visitors to Dubai expo can have a three-day stay in Oman. ROP will also be playing its role,\u201d said Asma al Hajry, Deputy Director-General for International Tourism. Currently, a traveller with a Dubai tourist visa can also enter Oman, provided his Dubai visa is valid for three weeks. \u201cNo fee will be charged in Oman; fees have to be paid only to the relevant authorities in Dubai.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mohsin bin Khamis al Balushi, Adviser at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Commissioner-General of the Sultanate Pavilion at the Dubai Expo 2020, recently held a meeting with the officials and representatives at Oman\u2019s offices abroad. He said the exhibition, which will be held for six months, is expected to attract 25 million tourists who could be encouraged to visit Oman. The expo is held every five years. It hasn\u2019t been hosted by the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia countries before. Oman Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai will bring to life the Sultanate\u2019s story of national progress through an exploration of frankincense. \u201cIt is a great opportunity for Oman. We need more hotel rooms and new attractions to tap these first-time visitors,\u201d said an executive representing Oman Tourism in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is important for the airlines to offer more connectivity from Oman so that the visitors can come to Oman first and then visit Dubai or vice-versa. It is a great opportunity for Oman car rental and other transportation companies,\u201d said an MoT official. Oman Pavilion will show how frankincense contributed to Omani advancements in transportation, knowledge, manufacturing, sustainability and exploration. Located at Expo\u2019s Mobility Thematic District, the pavilion will showcase the country\u2019s outward-looking nature, talent and expertise. The first package includes development of pavilion\u2019s concept designs, which was carried out by architects Alia al Batashi and Rehab al Zakawni, Nizwa University graduates working at Adi Architecture.
