The total number of coronavirus cases confirmed in Jordan today has risen to 21, including the infected truck driver who lives in the Al-Khanaseri town in Mafraq governorate.

Shortly after the Minister of Health, Saad Jaber, announced that 11 new cases were reported today, the official overseeing the coronavirus situation in the northern governorates, Wael Hayajneh, stated that two new cases were confirmed in the Al-Khanaseri town.

Soon after, an official source at the National Committee for Epidemics confirmed that seven new people who had direct contact with the driver have recently tested positive, explaining that one case was recorded in the Al-Khanaseri town and six in different areas of the Irbid governorate, the Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported.

The source expected that new cases may be recorded after the results of the samples collected from people in Irbid and Mafraq are shown, as over 120 samples were tested.
